It’s with great pleasure that I report this year’s Thanksgiving was a smashing success.
Since my people celebrate this grand holiday in October and these American types prefer it in November, I was succumbed to waiting an extra month longer for my turkey, stuffing & pumpkin pie…how dare they :)
The extra days off and
probably most certainly one of the yummiest of meals is always oh so worth it, and spending it with one of my best friends and her family up in Oregon made it even better than I could have imagined. « Read the rest of this entry »

When you’re living in London and two lovely girlfriends from home happen to be a stone’s throw away in Paris for a week, the only logical thing to do is pay them a visit.
So that happened :)
I arrived first thing in the morning on a Friday and as soon as I met up with them we hit the ground running, starting with lattes + banana & nutella crepes at a café along the Seine on Quai de Gesvres. Obviously.
A visit to Montmartre to see La Basilique Du Sacré-Coeur and a stroll around Rue de Ronsard and surrounding streets completed our morning before we caught a train to Versailles. « Read the rest of this entry »

Despite waking up to a cold, windy and fairly overcast day on Saturday morning, we braved what little time we had left to walk around Brighton Pier before our train back to London.
I had to restrain myself from sitting in one of the many striped deck chairs, because had it happened, it would have been game over.
i.e. I wouldn’t have gotten up,
maybe for fish n’ chips. « Read the rest of this entry »

Without fail, my friends and I went for afternoon tea every weekend while living in London, so venturing to Brighton just meant we’d be taking our weekend tradition with us.
We knew no other way.
I can’t remember who exactly recommended Blackbird Tea Rooms to us, but there wasn’t even a glimpse of hesitation in her recommendation, and when we walked in after hours of exploring, we couldn’t help but fall immediately in love.

I’ve wound up day tripping to Bath on each big England trip I’ve done.
First in 2000 with my family, then in 2005 with my school choir (it’s ok, you can laugh, I’m laughing at me too) and then again this past summer with the gals.
Each time I’ve gone I’ve found more reasons to fall in love with this little city that’s full of rich history and gorgeous architecture.
It was a classic British weather day of overcast clouds and intermittent rain, but the sunny skies that were in London earlier that morning meant none of us were dressed appropriately.
I made-shifted my thin silk scarf into an umbrella more often than I expected to – my attempt at making the best use out of my resources.
Regardless of the weather we still absolutely loved Bath.
So here’s a breakdown of everything we did: « Read the rest of this entry »

Happy Labor Day friends!
Long weekends are just the best, so I hope you’re all enjoying this extra day off.
I’m currently making the most of this holiday with a visit to a city that’s been on my California bucket list from the very beginning – Palm Springs.
Lucky for me a very good friend of mine was also up for something fun and in the sun. Her words exactly :)
So in the spirit of desert oases, palm trees, relaxation and poolside beverages, I thought I’d put together a round up of items that seemed well-suited for a Palm Springs weekend getaway. « Read the rest of this entry »
