the beautiful gardens of versailles.

Versailles is gorgeous.
I really don’t know how else to put it.
If you go to Paris, you absolutely must take the time to visit this place that’s quite easy to get to.
From Paris take the RER C to Versailles Rive Gauche. This station is in the metro’s zone 4 and should cost you 4,10€ each way or 8,20€ for a round trip (unless the prices have changed since July 2013). If the ticket agent asks you “aller rétour?” they’ll be asking you whether you want a return ticket so just say “oui!” which means “yes!”
Once you arrive at the Versailles Rive Gauche station it’s a close walk to the palace: take an immediate right out of the station and then take the first left at Av. de Paris (the first major intersection) and you’ll be able to see it.
Since we got there later in the afternoon we decided to just stick to the gardens since it was free :)
It’s only free at certain times of the year though so do your research before you go!
After indulging in some chocolat chaud we walked into the gardens and were amazed to discover how empty they were!
So began the photoshoot…
There were many, many more taken but these are my favorites :)
Jen had studied classics in her undergrad and was able to name almost all of the statues scattered around the gardens.
No audio guides needed!
This had been my second visit to the gardens and I was still just as amazed as the first time.
Something I hadn’t previously done was take a row boat out on the Grand Canal,
and when we found out that despite the gardens being closed to newcomers we could still rent one out,
it was a done deal.
For 11€ we got one for 30 minutes and had an absolute blast, to understate it :)
I could not recommend this more!
I guarantee you’ll leave Versailles feeling a little more fabulous,
and perhaps a little spoiled :)
Have you ever been? Tell me about your visit!
ps. I hope you had a wonderful & happy holiday!!!
