Hiking up a hill that boasts an entire view of Edinburgh? Yup, count me in. Arthur’s Seat came highly recommended to Kelly and I, and for good reason! The cool and overcast weather could not have been more quintessential United Kingdom but I loved it. It was such a beautiful walk we had to keep stopping every few minutes to snap many a photo. Obviously we each broke out our brand new tartan scarves, and obviously the wind just loved to swoop them up in front of our faces about every five minutes. It definitely made for a few good laughs and some entertaining pictures.

Hey Lauren- random question, but, how do you get such great pictures of you and your friend whilst traveling? I’m about to go on a trip with a friend but never seem to do better than the stretched out arm candids.

Hey Kaitlyn! Such a good question. In most cases, we asked other people to take our photo and I would set up my camera exactly how I wanted the photo to be taken. Everything from where the person would stand to the focus and zoom were all set up by me so I could just hand my camera over and the person would just push the capture button. The easier you can make it for them the better, and that way your photos will (ideally) turn out exactly how you wanted them to. And if it still doesn’t turn out, then smile, thank the person and wait for someone else to re-take it if the photo is really worth it. I would also suggest considering buying a flexible mini-tripod before you leave – I think I got mine for about $20 and it works well with point-and-shoots and DSLRs. They’re great because the legs are flexible so you can set up your camera in unique ways that you might not be able to do with a regular tripod. I hope this helps! Please don’t hesitate to ask any more questions :)
