Rejuvenated from our very necessary nap and café pit stop, Kelly and I continued on our walking journey towards Royal Mile, the main thoroughfare of Edinburgh’s Old Town that runs from Edinburgh Castle to Holyrood Palace. The cobblestone streets, vintage store signs and architecture undeniably pulled at my heart strings. We ended up relocating to a hostel off of High Street that gave us the ability to explore this area everyday. We went crazy for all the red telephone booths, made friends with a kilt store owner and tried on tons for fun, posed with Adam Smith {we were both in political science – we had to}, tried haggis for the first time, skipped through puddles and bought scarves with our Scottish family clan tartans. Every direction and corner of Royal Mile is riddled with history and tradition. Being a tourist haven, it was always lively with people out walking, window shopping and pubbing. But lucky for us, we were travelling during off-season which meant much less foot traffic – something I’m always a fan of.
