I’m checking out for a week to soak up the Jamaican sun, sip on rum punch + spend quality time with my handsome man. I have three fellow bloggers who will be stopping by to contribute while I’m gone – Jacquelyn from Lark+Linen will be sharing pictures and details of her trip to India on Tuesday, and Julia & Yuriy from Manchik Photography will be sharing their insights on wedding photography on Thursday! I’m so happy to have them and hope you enjoy them as much as I do!

Welcome to the brilliance that is Trey Ratcliff. This guy is too good so I couldn’t help but feature him. He’s best known for his website, which has become the #1 travel photography blog. Obviously I’m obsessed. This unique look of his work is known as HDR (high dynamic range) which is a post-processing method of taking one image or a series of images, combining them and adjusting the contrast ratios (his words, not mine). The result? That amazing effect you can’t get from regular snapshots. Clearly, this man has mastered this technique because not only do his photos get over one million views a week, but the first HDR photo to hang in the Smithsonian was his, he’s been featured on BBC, ABC, FOX, CBS and NBC and he’s had numerous showings around the world. No big deal.

Even at the age of 24, Miss Monroe looked amazing. Aren’t these photos beautiful? Taken by LIFE magazine photographer Ed Clark in Los Angeles’ Griffith Park in August 1950, it’s hard to believe they were never published.  « Read the rest of this entry »

I used to have such a love/hate relationship with this “holiday” but I’ll admit, I think it’s won me over. How can it not when I have the most handsome + wonderful person in the world to “celebrate” it with? « Read the rest of this entry »

kid at heart.

I went on a snow photography adventure not too long ago and it was equally as awesome as it was awkward. Awesome because I got my inner kid on, awkward because I slipped and fell just in time to have the audience of an entire family. Oh how I love perfectly timed moments like that! « Read the rest of this entry »
